Everyone gets a key
Most church software is a microphone for staff. Edify is built the other way around. Posting, creating events, starting a group, and taking an open Sunday slot are each a permission you can hand to one person, a group, or the whole church.
Leaders decide how wide the doors open. Pinned notices, approvals, and per-group permissions keep the shape of things without putting a gate on every door.
A meal train, a living room study, a ride to the hospital: things members start themselves, in the app, without asking first.
Shaped like your church
Ministries nest inside ministries. The youth group sits under family ministry, the Tuesday study under small groups. Each one has its own posts, comments, files, and pinned notices.
Members choose how each group reaches them: in the app, by email, as a digest, or on their phone.
Posts stay in the group they were written for, in order. There is no algorithm.
Posts people can answer
Any post can become an event with sign-ups and attendance. Add the things you need brought, and let people claim them, so the potluck gets three salads instead of nine.
Registrations, attendance, and claimed items all live on the post itself.
Sundays without the spreadsheet
Build a recurring schedule with ministry areas, roles, and the positions that have to be filled. Assign people directly, or open a position and let volunteers request it.
Volunteers accept or decline from their phone, mark the dates they are away, and ask to be released or to switch. The coordinator sees the request and approves it.
Cancel one Sunday, or hand it to a different team, without touching the recurring plan.
Profiles, households, permissions
Households keep families together. Directories and search cover the whole church. Permissions are set per group, so a leader runs their ministry and nothing else.
When someone leaves, their personal data is anonymized and the church's shared history stays intact.

Edify means to build up. In the New Testament it is a builder's word: a house going up, and everyone in it carrying something.
